All New Honda CR-V 2017
2017 generation Honda
CR-V to 5 has been shown in Detroit. Many elements from the all new 2011 Honda
CR-V SUV comes from 2016 Civic model. Platform used in this model is the
platform of the same rigid and lightweight Civic. The front end has a crisper
line with the hood made full and much clearer. The muscular fenders and
additional ground clearance highlights the new look as well. Lights search for
lines in the Civic taillights while elbows and thin as Volvo cars Interior
spec. has been enhanced with a larger one 7-inch touchscreen infotainment
display, the digital cluster as in
the Civic, and high-mounted shifters. The cabin is claimed to offer two inches
more legroom and can accommodate up to five adult passengers. Trimming nicer
with stitched instrument panel Chair and a soft touch. There are several
features to enjoy. This includes hands-free tailgate with foot-activated
sensors to open it, the physical volume buttons on the device Audio systems,
car infotainment systems with Apple and Android, Auto play cabin rear USB
ports, electronic parking brake, dual-zone climate control and remote engine
start. Security system Honda Sensing should come as standard except for the LX
trim with blind spot monitoring should come as optional.
Interior
Honda the new CR-V has the best interior space
in the class across the pond – especially in the back where rear legroom is
claimed as class leading. At the same time, the new cabin is said to feature
better quality materials and more intricate stitching on the seats to enhance
the premium feeling.
In front of the driver
sits a new colour information screen similar in principal to Audi’s Virtual
Cockpit digital dials. A seven-inch infotainment screen is fitted in the middle
of the dashboard. We’ve not been impressed with Honda’s previous attempts with
the Android-based system but, with the inclusion of a physical volume knob,
here’s hoping the brand has found a way of making it more user friendly. It
gets a Garmin-developed sat nav optionally but, with Android Auto and Apple
CarPlay, there seems little need to spec it.
Driving and Engines
The UK engine lineup
remains to be announced but the US’s entry-level 2.4-litre non-turbo petrol
engine is unlikely to be sold over here. Higher spec trims in the US will get
the 1.5-litre petrol recently announced for the Civic so it’s a safe bet this 190hp
unit could make its way into UK-bound CR-Vs. It’s also likely a mildly upgraded
version of the 160hp 1.6-litre diesel from the outgoing CR-V could make its way
into the new model.
As before, a choice of
two and four-wheel drive will be offered and a choice of manual or automatic
gearbox. The latter will hopefully be the nine-speed unit currently fitted to
the outgoing CR-V rather than the noisy CVT automatic Honda will offer in the
US. New dampers and upgraded anti-roll bars aim to improve the car’s handling
and reduce body roll without compromising on comfort.
Price
The current CR-V is
comparatively expensive compared to rivals , To remain competitive in the
class, we don’t expect prices to move noticeably from the current model’s
£23,025 entry-level price, rising to about £36,500 for top-spec models.
